What does the future of media look like? We are using new technology to change the way we receive news and information. Learn how ColumbusUnderground.com has evolved from an online resource for all things Columbus to a high traffic community news source. Walker Evans will share his experiences in founding the site and online journalism. Students can ask questions and learn new ways the online world will play a role in the future of communications.
Walker Evans is the founder of ColumbusUnderground.com, and a freelance creative consultant. Outside of work, I stay engaged in a variety of civic activities including serving on the North Marketing Development Board of Trustees, Dine Originals Board of Directors and The Create Columbus Commission. In the past 10 years Walker has worked for a large local Fortune 500 company, the State of Ohio, a printing and graphics firm, and a local newspaper. He launched ColumbusUnderground.com in November 2001 as an online resource for all things Columbus. Today the site has grown into a great community resource that attracts over 700,000 pageviews per month, and over 65,000 unique visitors per month. Walker currently lives in the historic King Lincoln District adjacent to Downtown with my wife Anne, son Desmond and daughter Sophie. We love the urban energy and culture that Downtown Columbus has to offer.
